Evolution, not revolution.

Taylor Fladgate has unveiled a new bottle that will be progressively introduced across its range from July 2026, marking the most significant evolution in the House's presentation in decades.

Developed over almost two years, the new bottle reflects Taylor Fladgate long-standing commitment to craftsmanship, quality and continuous improvement. The ambition was clear: to preserve one of the Port category's most recognisable bottle designs while significantly reducing its environmental impact.

Rather than redesigning an icon, Taylor Fladgate chose to refine it.

The bottle retains the distinctive silhouette and embossed Taylor Fladgate coat of arms that have defined the brand for generations, while introducing carefully considered refinements that enhance both its premium appearance and its sustainability credentials.

At the heart of the project is a newly developed proprietary bottle weighing just 440 grams, compared with the previous 580 grams. This represents a reduction of approximately 24%, achieved without compromising strength, bottling performance or the elegant presentation expected of one of the world's leading Port houses.

Across Taylor Fladgate annual production of around 2.5 million bottles, this lighter bottle will save approximately 350 tonnes of glass every year and reduce bottle manufacturing emissions by around 210 tonnes of CO₂ annually. The reduced weight also improves transport efficiency throughout the global supply chain.

The new bottle forms part of a broader programme reviewing every aspect of Taylor Fladgate packaging, including responsibly sourced paper labels, increased recyclability, the introduction of RE:WOOD® bartop closures and the continued reduction of virgin plastic across the range.

As the founder of the Porto Protocol, the international movement launched in 2018 to unite the wine industry in tackling climate change, Taylor Fladgate remains committed to delivering practical and measurable environmental improvements. The new bottle represents another important step in that ongoing journey.

"Taylor Fladgate has always believed that true progress comes through thoughtful evolution rather than change for its own sake," says Adrian Bridge, Managing Director of Taylor Fladgate. "This new bottle respects our heritage while looking confidently to the future. It demonstrates that meaningful environmental improvements can be achieved without compromising the quality, elegance and identity that have defined Taylor Fladgate for more than three centuries."

While the bottle has evolved, what lies inside remains exactly the same. Consumers can continue to enjoy the same exceptional Ports, crafted according to the uncompromising standards of quality and authenticity that have defined Taylor Fladgate since 1692.

The new bottle will be introduced progressively across the Taylor Fladgate portfolio as existing stocks are replaced in markets around the world.

The project was developed in collaboration with a number of specialist Portuguese partners. The bottle redesign ans labels were created by This Is Pacifica, the new lightweight glass bottle was engineered by Vidrala, the labels were produced by Etiquel and the new bartop closure was developed by Amorim Cork Solutions. Together, these partners helped bring Taylor Fladgate vision to life while preserving the House's distinctive identity.
