Yesterday, the centuries-old Taylor’s Port cellars had the distinguished honour of welcoming the Prime Minister of Portugal, Luís Montenegro, and the President of the Republic of Mozambique, Daniel Chapo, on a visit that marked a moment of particular diplomatic and cultural significance for our house.

Accompanied by our Managing Director, Adrian Bridge, the distinguished guests walked through the historic corridors where casks rest that bear witness to more than three centuries of dedication to Port wine. The visit offered an opportunity to share not only Taylor’s long-standing legacy, but also the essential role that the Douro and the city of Porto play in safeguarding this unique product, an icon whose reputation is built upon time, precision and unwavering excellence.

To commemorate the occasion, a ceremonial entry was signed, a gesture that will forever record the presence of our esteemed visitors in our cellars and one that reflects Taylor’s enduring tradition of hospitality. The visit concluded with a luncheon at the Barão de Fladgate restaurant, during which we had the pleasure of opening a Taylor’s Vintage 2003 with traditional Port tongs, a fitting celebration of one of the noblest expressions of Port wine, and always a special moment, worthy of the occasion and the distinguished guests.
