Taylor's 40 Year Old aged tawny Port was awarded a Gold Medal in the 2012 Decanter World Wine Awards.
Produced in limited quantities, Taylor's 40 Year Old is a very rare tawny Port blend. The 40 year's of ageing in wood have concentrated the wine almost to an essence, producing intense and complex nutty and spicy aromas and a dense concentrated palate full of rich and mellow flavours.
Over 14,000 different wines competed this year for the coveted Decanter World Wine awards which is now in its 9th year.
The judging took place in April, with the wines tasted by over 200 wine merchant, sommeliers, and journalists, amongst which there were 54 Masters of Wine and 11 Master Sommeliers.
